Resources for Recycling Responsibly

The EPA says that recycling "saved over 193 million metric tons of carbon dioxide" in 2018. It also claims that each year the recycling process accounts for 681K jobs. The EPA webpage on recycling is also a good resource for learning about the recycling process. 

The BBC says that 11 billion tons of material are thrown away as trash each year, including over 50 million tons of technology. Electronic waste is important to recycle because technology includes precious metals. Recycling metals and plastics saves resources that are required for manufacturing these materials.

Recycling helps the economy by saving energy and resources, and it also

"[i]ncreases economic security by tapping a domestic source of materials" according to the EPA. However, despite its strengths, the American recycling process needs to be improved in many ways.
